October 16, 2019 – Update on the incident here
June 21st, 2019– A major explosion and fire has occurred at an oil refinery in Philadelphia (known locally as the Suncor refinery for many years, but now known as the Philadelphia Energy Solutions refinery). This is one of the oldest refineries in the US on the East Coast, said to be 150 years old. Emergency Response teams have closed off adjoining roads such as the Platt bridge and Penrose avenue.
Drivers in the vicinity reported hearing three to four loud explosions and a large fire that lit up the sky early in the morning.
There have been unconfirmed reports of four injuries so far. Here are some videos that were posted on twitter by individuals.
