April 1, 2015- An oil platform operated by PEMEX in the Gulf of Mexico (in the Bay of Campeche) has apparently caught fire and hundreds of workers have had to be evacuated to safety, as per news reports. More than 8 fire fighting boats are on the site trying to control the blaze. This seems to be the first such large accident in the Gulf of Mexico after the Deepwater Horizon incident. The name of the offshore platform is Abkatun Permanent Platform Campeche.
