April 19, 2018– The Valero refinery in Texas City, TX had an explosion and fire in the evening at about 1700 hours, according to multiple sources. However fortunately, no casualties have been reported so far. Now the City of Texas reports that the fire has been contained and there have been no casualties. Ambient air quality is being monitored. The cause of the fire was not known but we presume it will be investigated thoroughly.
Valero Update:
The fire has been contained. Fire crews will continue to be onsight until fully extinguished. All personnel have been accounted for with no fatalities or injuries. There will be constant air monitoring as well.— City of Texas City (@CityofTexasCity) April 19, 2018
